Role Overview:
The Vehicle Placement Officer will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and arranging vehicles for dispatching steel materials from Nagpur to other cities and also for inter-city movements across India. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth flow of vehicles, timely dispatches, proper coordination with transporters, and cost-effective logistics management.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, experience in transporter coordination, and a deep understanding of vehicle scheduling in a trading or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and arrange vehicles for loading and dispatch based on daily/weekly requirements.
- Coordinate with transporters, brokers, and fleet owners to secure vehicles at competitive rates.
- Maintain regular communication with transport partners to confirm availability and dispatch timelines.
- Ensure timely placement of vehicles for both Nagpur-origin and inter-city dispatches.
- Track, monitor, and update dispatch status until the material reaches the destination.
- Coordinate with warehouse, dispatch, and accounts teams for smooth operations.
- Maintain records of vehicles, transporters, and trip details.
- Negotiate freight rates within company-guided parameters.
- Handle issues such as driver delays, vehicle breakdowns, or route deviations.
- Ensure transport documentation readiness (LR, waybill, invoice copies, etc.).
- Maintain a daily MIS for placed vehicles, pending vehicles, and transporter performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or vehicle placement (preferably in steel, manufacturing, or trading industry).
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Good planning and coordination ability.
- Basic knowledge of transport documentation (LR, waybill, e-way bills, etc.).
- Basic Excel and record-keeping skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: Up to - 30,000 per month (in-hand) - negotiable based on experience and performance.
