Description

Vestas is currently seeking to fill a position as Engineer/Assistant Lead Engineer - Condition Monitoring in Component Monitoring team, Vestas Performance & Diagnostics Centre, Vestas Power Solutions (VPS). The department is globally responsible for enabling customers to increase their return while reducing the costs and risks associated with operating wind power plants. Hence the department focuses on driving down service costs and optimizing power plant performance.

In recent years Vestas has established a powerful remote monitoring capability, collecting data from more than 30,000 turbines worldwide. This data is analyzed within the Vestas Performance & Diagnostics Centre and the insights generated here are used across the business to manage maintenance and increase the reliability and availability of the wind power plants.

The department works across the entire value chain and is hence heavily interlinked to turbine development, sales and service providing valuable data analyses transforming innovative technologies and concepts into new products and service offerings.

The Vestas Performance & Diagnostics Centre is a global department with a staff of more than 40 dedicated performance engineers having competencies in Condition monitoring Product development, Data Analytics, Reliability, Performance monitoring, mathematics, statistics and physics and also Mechanical engineering & Data mining, Data Analysis. The department coordinates performance related activities with colleagues around the world and is searching for Engineer/Assistant Lead Engineer - Condition Monitoring with strong background Condition Monitoring Product development background, Data analysis, Statistics Knowledge and excellent communication skills to expand our Condition Monitoring activities.

An Exciting Opportunity in the Component Monitoring, Vestas Performance & Diagnostics Centre for Engineer/Assistant Lead Engineer - Condition Monitoring.

Primary work location: Chennai

VPS, Plant Solutions, VPDC, Component Monitoring

Responsibilities:

- Experience of using Condition Monitoring Hardwares, Sensors, Softwares and should have good understanding and expertise in functional knowledge

- Provide Condition Monitoring technical support to End users - Global service, CMS Operational Team

- To work on CMS development related tasks based on the project requirements, likely industrialize the CMS product to the platform need, develop a small or larger scale tool as per the requirement, etc

- Develop and Improve data collection tools, methods and processes

- Establish Training material/user guide and train the end user

- Support VPDC Management & CMS Organisation with data Analysis.

- Collect customer feedback and Develop case stories, Maintain Best Practises

Qualifications & Functional Competencies :

- Engineering Graduate or Post Graduate with Mechanical Engineering

- 04 to 10 Years of relevant experience

- Knowledge on remote monitoring and diagnostics and how it works.

- Basic scripting knowledge on Matlab, Python, R, etc-

- Possess strong statistical aptitude & data crunching ability, data mining ability

- Very strong working knowledge on Advanced Excel, VB Scripts & database tools like SQL Studio

- Knowledge on DMAIC Six Sigma Methodology (Yellow/ Green Belts)

- Basic understanding of Business Case & Commercial acumen.

- Working experience of R&D and or Engineering company is preferred

- Exposure to Wind Turbine/Heavy Machinery Industry domains is advantage

- Willingness to travel
